The 2024 Benson Film Festival was our second at the Benson Theatre and the third overall edition of the festival. The festival brought a large crowd to the Benson Creative District to enjoy a weekend of film, art, and community.

The festival kicked off Friday evening with a screening of local comedy film, β€œThe Headliner.” Prior to the film, comedian Lauren Vana had the crowd in stitches with her 15 minute standup performance. The screening was followed by a panel discussion with filmmaker Tony Bonacci, writer Christine Burright, and actor Derek Silckman.

For the second consecutive year, the Benson Film Festival brought visitors from across the country to Omaha. Los Angeles-based actor Paddy Wilkins returned home to Nebraska for the screening of his short film, β€œPiano Man.” (article via the Lincoln Journal Star)

Festival organizers Ben Matukewicz and Michael Hennings decided not to hold the festival in 2022, giving them time to plan the festival’s grand debut at the Benson Theatre in 2023. The new partnership gave the Benson Film Festival a legitimate home within the Benson Creative District.
